Watchman Cigars was founded by Leon Tanner a native of Charlotte, NC. The name Watchman is based off multiple beliefs of Leon. Beliefs instilled by a long family tradition.  That is to assist your fellow man and woman anyway you can and enjoy the time doing it!

 

Leon has always been around tobacco. His grandfather and great uncles had one of the largest tobacco farms in the in Kingstree, SC area during the late 40's. As a youth, in the mid 70's, he was always observing his grandfather, watching him tend to the crops with a passion that he now fully understands.  He would question his grandfather as young inquisitive minds often do.  The land remains in their family today (2019) and we are very fortunate. 

 

At Watchman Cigars we believe "you should enjoy what you do and be passionate while doing it". 

 

Seeking to create his own brand that would add value to the industry.  Leon met a Honduran family who would eventually assist him with his dream, and help maintain his strong family beliefs of, "have passion and assist". This Honduran family, Florinda Gonzalez and her son Carlos Giron already had a major impact on the industry. It was only fitting to partner and collaborate on this great brand.

 

Our tobacco blends and cigars are prepared carefully, and hand rolled by our Certified Honduran Master Roller who spent over twenty years learning the craft under one of the major cigar companies in the world, Padron. Now, we have a third generation of rollers continuing the great family tradition.

 

We take pride in only using quality tobacco leaves from Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador to create a blend that is loved by many.
